21 Day Herbal Cleansing Program

21 Day Herbal Cleansing Program
Our environment is awash with potentially toxic chemicals that can enter the body through the air we breathe and the food and water we consume. During the process of life itself the body produces toxic metabolic by-products that must be eliminated to maintain health and vitality.

The well-nourished and healthy body normally eliminates these toxic wastes through the lungs, skin, kidneys and digestive system. Unfortunately, over time, as a result of stress and poor nutritional habits, including inadequate fiber intake, insufficient hydration and excessive intake of processed foods, the elimination process may be slowed and toxic accumulation can occur.
Do you have these challenges?
  • Feelings of low energy
  • Excess gas and bloating
  • General malaise and fatigue
  • Difficulty in weight loss
  • Poor digestion/bowel function
  • Headaches and irritability
Try out 21 Day Herbal Cleansing Program designed to provide the necessary nutritional and botanical factors to optimize your colon function, eliminating the challenges of toxicity in the body.*

The large intestine (colon) is the digestive system’s key organ of elimination.
It also plays a significant role in the absorption of fluids, electrolytes and certain essential vitamins. When colon function is impaired or sluggish, not only is its ability to excrete waste reduced, but the natural environment of friendly bacteria can become upset. This condition is called “dysbiosis” and if not corrected can result in digestive disfunction and other health challenges.
Because Herbalife recognizes the important role nutrition plays in supporting the body’s ability to remove health-robbing toxins as well as in building and maintaining a healthy colon environment, we have created the 21 Day Herbal Cleansing Program.*
Herbalife’s exclusive herbal-based formulas use only the highest quality ingredients and latest manufacturing technologies. This unique two-step 21 Day program gently and efficiently helps the body remove toxins while assisting to recondition the colon environment.* These formulas supply a proprietary blend of herbs, prebiotics (fructooligosaccharides, apple pectin and lemon pectin), probiotics (Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria), as well as botanically-derived enzymes.
To supplement and enhance the effectiveness of this program we suggest a plat-based, fiber rich diet comprised primarily of whole grain breads and cereals, fresh fruit and vegetables and vegetarian protein sources such as legumes and soy. Consume at least 8 glasses of water daily and reduce or eliminate red meat, refined sugar and flour products, coffee, alcohol and sweetened, carbonated beverages. Fasting is not recommended.
These products contain no wheat, animal products, sugar, or artificial colorings, flavourings or preservatives. The tablets feature a unique water-based, protective coating for easy use and improved digestibility.
Regular physical activity like brisk walking stimulates the circulatory system and metabolism and amplifies the body’s natural, self-cleansing action. The 21 Day Herbal Cleansing Program may be used with other Herbalife Nutrition products including Herbal Aloe Drink and Schizandra Plus.

Thoughts and News About Cutting Edge Nutrition for Optimal Health

INVEST IN YOURSELF FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Yes the economy may not be looking great with cuts left right and centre, but how do you stand above it all? Simply invest in yourself; it is only human to worry about the unknown but if that leads nowhere why not choose to cut the worrying time and invest in yourself. And here is how and more reasons to do so.
You are your own asset…Yes. You are! Are you a mother, worker, business owner, teacher or many more? If the answer is yes then you are certainly an asset! The mother is an asset to her children, the worker is an asset to his community…can you see how it works? So many of us are valuable assets to those around us. You Invest in yourself both professional and personally but which one takes precedence? I will like to think it’s the basics, which take us back to Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. At the bottom of Maslow’s pyramid are sleep, food, warmth, air, water, stimulation and activity. Once these are met we can move on to other needs which would include, let’s say, professional and personal development.

Some Basics……….

Invest in your sleep: so you can improve your memory, reduce stress, repair your body and be alert at most times. Most adults reap all these benefits with 7-9 hours of sleep. Of course we are mostly busy but why spend more time on a task and deprive yourself of quality rest, sleep? See 10 ways to improve your sleep Here!
Eat well: Choose a healthy eating habit. If you are trying to lose weight why not swap your plate size and portion for smaller ones; simply spread your calories intake over the course of the day. You are better off eating 6 smaller portions than one to 2 large portions a day. The mechanics of this is simple; each time you eat you increase your metabolic rate which helps burns fat subsequently helps you lose weight.
Add protein to your breakfast: it keeps you going longer. Include soups in your diet too so you stay fuller longer after lunch and it helps drives that hunger bang away. Take time and where possible be selective with what you eat,; ensure you select food to improve and hence your health and general well being. Health after all is wealth!
Visit your General Practitioner:do your regular and routine checks; Take care of yourself as prevention is better than cure. As we can’t literally see inside our body which may mean if anything is going wrong we most likely would not know. So try not to miss your routine checks.

Once we have taken care of the basics we are more than able to attend to our other needs. So as we progress up Maslow’s pyramid our needs become increasingly psychological and social. Love, friendship and intimacy become essential. Further up the pyramid, the need for personal esteem and feelings of accomplishment take priority. Maslow stressed the importance of self-actualization, which is a process of growing and developing as a person to achieve individual potentials.
Now it is time to “Do what you do, using your talents and abilities because it makes you happy. In everything you do, have a purpose, principle or ideal that you hold dear and will not compromise if the price is right”~Iyanla Vanzant.

Attend to your Personal development: Perfect and work on areas of you – you wish to improve you can do this by;
1. Opening yourself to learning: you could do this by reading informative literature or going back to college.
2. Pick up a new hobby. Think outside the box!
3. Work on esteem issues if any, build self confidence. Address underlining issues that may impact on you negatively.
4. Network with people you intend to learn from: you could do this via social networking or simply attending a group(s) Seminar
5. Set goals and action them!
6. Attend to and enhance your spiritual life.
7. Be patient don’t beat yourself up if things are not going your way. Instead review the situation, think different and choose the appropriate course of action.

Good Luck

ADVICE FOR STUDENTS

I gave the students the following list of 15 tips to stay on the path of good nutrition.  I'd like to share it with everyone going off to college for the first time.
Avoiding the Freshman Fifteen
1.)  Avoid eating refined foods such as white flour and white sugar.  Go for rye or whole grains.
2.)  Eat food in its natural state.  For example, fresh turkey is much better for you than turkey cold cuts.
3.)  Eat breakfast with protein every day to help rev up your metabolism.  eating too little early in the day leads to late-day overeating.
4.)  Drink plenty of water during the day to stay hydrated.  This keeps you full longer, and you'll eat less.
5.)  Don't stand and eat.  You will not digest food properly or fully absorb the vitamins from your food.
6.)  Never rush through a meal.  Your body cannot digest the food well, so you store it as fat.  commit 20 minutes or more to your meal!
7.)  Try not to eat in noisy, nervous environments that can speed up your eating.  Rushed or stressful eating interferes with digestion.
8.)  No late night snacking or waking up in the middle of the night to eat.  Your metabolism is at its lowest after 6 pm.
9.)  Snack wisely.  Don't use snacks as an excuse to eat junk.  Eat healthy for meals and snacks.
10.)  The best time to eat is from 6 am - 7 pm.  Eating an early dinner improves the quality of sleep and digestion.
11.)  For a caffeine lift try organic green tea to help mental alertness and studying.
12.)  Never eat because you are bored, anxious or lonely.
13.)  Get enough sleep.  Studies show that sleep deprivation slows down metabolism but greatly increases appetite.
14.)  Exercise moderately.  45 minutes 4 -5 times per week keeps the metabolism moving and burning calories.  Do both cardio and weight training.
15.)  Finally, take time to relax on the weekends.  Relaxation balances our hormones and keeps us motivated!

Next week, I'll share some of the questions I was asked by the students at Greeley High.

ADVICE FOR PEOPLE

I thought I’d share some of the questions that were raised more commonly by the people. It’s always fascinating to find out what issues are on the minds of young people, and what topics concern them when it comes to health and nutrition. Hopefully this information will be of value to any student headed off to college.

Q: Do we need fat in our diet?
A: We certainly do! Vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin K are known as fat soluble vitamins. Fat is essential for allowing these vitamins to be absorbed by the body. Without fat, you’d quickly find yourself vitamin deficient. Fats should be moderated, but not avoided altogether. For instance, 1% organic milk is better for you than skim milk.

Q: What are healthy vegetables?
A: If you want to get the most out of your vegetable servings, some vegetables are supercharged with nutrients. Veggies like broccoli, spinach, asparagus, and string beans are worth noting. Also, remember that it is important to eat both cooked and raw vegetables. Cooked vegetables provide iron, B vitamins like folic acid, and calcium. Raw veggies provide enzymes and fiber.

Q: How much water should I be drinking?
A: Research indicates that we should drink one ounce of water per day for every two pounds of body weight. So if you weigh 140 pounds, you should get at least 70 ounces of water per day. Soft drinks, tea and coffee don’t count; they tend to dehydrate you. Try to drink plain bottled or filtered water as much as possible. Water with a pH of 7.0 or higher will provide better hydration. A twist of lemon or lime gives it a nice kick!

Q: What is the best exercise?
A: There is no one exercise to point to and call best for everyone. I suggest a combination of weight training, cardio, and stretching or yoga. It is important to be consistent and moderate with exercise. Too much can be just as unhealthy as too little.

Q: What are healthy late-night snacks?
A: It’s important to not eat too much at night. Overeating so close to bedtime can lead to sleeping difficulties and poor digestion. However, if you need something to tide you over on those late nights, try one of the following:
- Carrot sticks, celery, or cucumber with a low fat ranch or guacamole.
- Fresh fruit
- Spelt pretzels or rice crackers
- Dark chocolate (70% or higher cocoa content)
- Handful of raw nuts
